Teacher Placements

The programme provides individual placements with employers, group visits and training opportunities. Professional development placements are flexible and can be arranged for a duration and time to suit teacher, school and the hosting business organisation. All placements are designed to enhance professional or curriculum capability and are tailored to meet specific aims and objectives. This enables the teachers to discover more about the world of work in areas such as retail, engineering, construction, care of leisure - a wide range of opportunities are available to enhance knowledge and skills.

On Wednesday 20th June we arranged for a small group of Connexions Staff to visit a firm of Chartered Architects. The directors, who are all from the Portsmouth and Fareham area, have extensive contacts in the Local Building Industry and have a wide experience in many sectors of building including commercial, industrial, defence, residential, retail, community, health, education and leisure developments. The directors have experience of involvement with a broad scale of developments from single houses and small estates up to multimillion-pound developments. This visit will enable the Connexions Staff to gain an insight into the various careers available in this field and the various education / training routes into the profession.
