Portsmouth&South East Hampshire Education Business Partnership (EBP) provides a wide range of services for secondary schools in Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport, Havant and Horndean.

The majority of services are aimed at KS4 (often extending to Year 9) however some programmes and projects are open to KS3.

Services to Secondary Schools fall under the following categories:

  • Projects and programmes that help schools to provide a more flexible curriculum, and help to raise motivation and achievement of students e.g. extended work placement programmes, business mentoring, the GLIDE project in Gosport, and preparation for working life workshops.
  • Projects and programmes that support all nine elements of the work related learning and enterprise framework, e.g. enterprise days, working lunches, Step Into Days, business mentoring, enterprise challenges and taster days.
  • Advice, support and professional development opportunities for teachers through work related learning and enterprise networks, planned visits to business and industry, conferences related to work related learning and enterprise, tailored placements to help develop a teacher's knowledge of a particular industry or aspect of work. Each school has an allocated member of EBP staff who can provide advice on the work related learning framework, and on the services offered by both the EBP and other education business link organisations to help schools deliver this. Useful links for work related learning and downloadable materials are provided through this website.
  • Brokerage with business and industry. In many cases, the EBP is able to support schools by brokering links with appropriate businesses who may be able to help schools to deliver particular aspects of the curriculum, or to support schools' specialist status.

Cost

Most services provided by the EBP are subsidised through a variety of funding sources (including the Learning and Skills Council). Costs vary according to the existing agreement with schools, and the nature of the activity. For more details contact the EBP on enquiries@portsmouthebp.co.uk
