What You Need To Know...
EBP are pleased to announce the arrival of the Hampshire Enterprise Board Game...
EBP are pleased to announce the arrival of the Hampshire Enterprise Board Game - over the past year the Portsmouth&SE Hants EBP, in conjunction with the EBP's of Southampton (Solent Skill Quest) and North Hampshire (First Partnership) and the Kings School Winchester have been working on the design and manufacture of a Hampshire version of the Enterprise Board Game. 400 copies of the board game have been delivered to the EBP's and are now available to schools across Hampshire to borrow free of charge as many times as they like! To fund the design/manufacture of the game EBP-s contacted a variety of local employers who agreed to sponsor a slot on the board eg. Gunwharf Quays, The Spinnaker Tower, VT Shipbuilding, the Holiday Inn, Sainsbury. Ford etc.
The Game in brief...
Typically 5 - 7 students play this board game, 4 running their own company and 1 as Banker. The aim of the Game is to become the most successful company. Players use their entrepreneurial skills to run their business; they make, sell and deliver products to 24 customers around the board.
The Hampshire Enterprise Board Game is a fun and effective way for young people to learn about the fundamentals of running a business - they learn about:
- operating costs
- cash flow
- decision making
- teamwork
- managing risk
- business vocabulary
- negotiation
- local employers
The Hampshire Enterprise Board Game lends itself for use either in ordinary lesson time (eg. during PSHE or a Business Studies lesson) or a half year group Enterprise Day. The game can be played either during a single 90-minute lesson or over 2 x 60 minutes sessions or longer if extension activities are used.
Alternatively EBP can incorporate the use of the Enterprise Board Game as part of your school Enterprise Days/activities in school.
