The project replaced the very successful Schools' Website Challenge, which ran for 10 years. The competition was aimed at students in year's 9&10.
The final of the challenge took place on Thursday 30 April at the IBM Headquarters, North Harbour, Cosham.  Since the launch in January there were many changes that everybody involved worked around.  The final was an incredbily successful evening with all four schools, Bay House, Springfield Technology College, Horndean Technology College and Cams Hill putting 100% effort into their presentations and indeed their websites.  This year's customer, Portsmouth Football Club were impressed with the quality and styles of the teams.  Judging, as usual was the most difficult and unenviable job of the evening.

What the Challenge is all about

The challenge provides a ‘real’ work related learning project, where the teams work with a real customer.  This enables students to develop key skills for employment, particularly teamwork, communication, presentation skills, understanding business and ICT. The focus is on the marketing and the importance of a website that meets the business needs, but the challenge involves a wide range of skills - research, presentation, innovative design, graphics and project management skills. The Challenge can be used effectively to bring a work related learning element to many aspects of the curriculum including English (presentations); ICT; and Business Studies. It will also help to develop students’ ‘enterprise skills’.

The EBP is grateful for the sponsorship of IBM, without whose considerable time, expertise and financial support, the Challenge would not be possible.

This year's customer was Portsmouth Football Club.  Their brief for the teams was to design the Healthy Eating and Lifestyle section of their soon to be launched ' Passion for Portsmouth' website.  The aim was for the teams to provide the content in small 'snackable' bites so it is easy to understand and use.
