A Place In Europe Language Challenge

A Place In Europe Language Challenge 2008- 2009

This is an Enterprise Challenge for KS3 students from all Secondary Schools in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire area, organised by the Education Business Partnership.

The Challenge is for students to set up a relocation business consisting of a team of 4 to 6 members. Students will be required to develop a relocation plan and presentation for a family of four (2 adults and 2 students) relocating to a country of their choice which speaks either French, German or Spanish.

Students will be required to choose a language, then select a country to relocate their family to. They will need to research and investigate purchasing a house abroad, relocating the adults into new jobs, researching the chosen area and presenting their budgets, relocation plan and final presentation.

Students will be required to demonstrate enterprise skills including teamwork, leadership, communication, problem solving, risk taking and marketing together with financial understanding.

Schools may enter up to 5 teams for the Challenge. This Challenge will link with the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum to encourage students to listen and respond, speak, read and respond and write in a foreign language of their choice.

This Challenge will be launched during National Enterprise Week and will run until February 2008. Judging will take place during end of February.
