A Place in the World Language Challenge 2011-2012
This is an Enterprise Challenge for KS3 students from all Secondary Schools in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire area, organised by the Education Business Partnership.
The Challenge is for students to create a team of 4-6 members to develop a relocation plan and storyboard for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children) relocating to a country of their choice in the world, speaking any language.
Students will be required to choose a language, then select a country to relocate their family to. They will need to research and investigate purchasing a house abroad, relocating the adults into new jobs, relocating the children (aged 8 and 12) into new schools, research the chosen area and present their budgets, relocation plans and storyboard.
Teams must demonstrate enterprise skills including teamwork, leadership, communication, problem solving, risk taking and marketing together with financial understanding.
Schools may enter up to 5 teams for the Challenge. This Challenge will link with the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum to encourage students to listen and respond, speak, read and respond and write in a foreign language of their choice.
This Challenge was launched during November 2011 and will run until March 2012. Judging and the Grand Final will take place during March 2012.
